Minda Honey: “It does reinforce and make me thankful that I wrote the book that I wanted to write, and that I wrote the truth that I needed to tell, because I think if I had compromised on either of those things and then got the animosity that I got, that would’ve been devastating. But to know that I wrote the book that I wanted to write … this is what I had inside of me to put out to offer to the world. So that kind of insulates me in some ways against that. And it also makes it way more potent when someone reaches out and says, This memoir was the first time I’ve felt seen or you spoke about things or experiences that I’ve had, that I’ve never heard anyone else talk about or that I had felt so ashamed of until like I read about it from you, and that you had gone through these things too, or, This is my favorite book. The fact that I wrote a book and that book exists in the world and it’s somebody’s favorite book? I will never get over that.”
