Hi friends,
This week on Reckon True Stories, Deesha Philyaw and Kiese Laymon dig into the “manosphere” — specifically how Black men show up in the space of it, and how Black women respond to it.
Listen in your favorite podcast app, and be sure to follow the show so you don’t miss an episode:
As always, you can get the full show notes and reading list over at Reckon.
Deesha talks about a “de-centering of romance” and recognition that women have come to see that their lives are full and beautiful without being partnered with a man who does not listen to or respect them.
“When we try to sound the alarm and say something’s happened, something’s shifted here, they say, Choose better men. But then they say, Your standards are too high or unrealistic, and You’re going to die alone. And that whole die alone thing is like…don’t threaten me with a good time.”
Thanks for your continued support!
